United Way 2-1-1 is looking for new volunteers to become Information and Referral Specialists. If you are looking for an opportunity to learn more about community resources and would like to assist people in finding ways to get and give help - United Way 2-1-1 may be the place for you!
Our volunteers staff our telephone lines, answering information and referral questions about resources available in the service area. Examples of the types of calls we provide information and referral on include (but are not limited to): food, shelter, financial and legal, parenting and childcare, elder care, alcohol and drug abuse, mental health, health care, disabilities, and the donation of items and goods.
RESTRICTIONS: Volunteers work one 4-hour shift per week between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday-Friday. This opportunity is available and highly recommended for groups of 2-3 volunteers.
All of our volunteers are required to go through a multi-step training process before they can become Community Information and Referral Specialists. Training starts early September. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age with good computer skills. New volunteers are required to commit to volunteering for at least 12 months.
